If you take multiple trips overseas each year, there’s a more economical approach to travel insurance than buying a separate plan for each trip. Instead, you can purchase one multiple-trip policy that will cover you for the whole year regardless of how many trips you take abroad (provided these trips are less than 30 days in duration). In addition, please note that to purchase this plan you must have major medical health insurance coverage in your home country.
Who needs to consider this plan?
An annual multi-trip plan is a great fit for a business leader with clients or operations abroad, an avid traveler, a missionary leader, or anyone else who expects to take more than two trips abroad in a calendar year. (Generally speaking, two trips is roughly the break-even point for this plan when compared with purchasing a travel insurance plan for each trip).
What is covered?
The coverage is similar to that of a typical travel medical insurance plan. So you’ll have coverage for medical needs, evacuation (medical, political), repatriation of remains, emergency medical reunion, etc. There are also benefits related to lost travel documents (i.e. passports), trip interruption, and a modest lost luggage benefit.
